Two New Concepts Are Landing in Downtown Omaha

Downtown Omaha isn’t slowing down. Just when you think the skyline’s pulse couldn’t get any louder, The Peregrine Hotel throws a pair of aces on the table.
This fall, the iconic 1914 landmark-turned-boutique hotel is unveiling not one, but two new culinary and cocktail destinations: Gilded Feather and The Perch Rooftop.
These aren’t your typical hotel concepts. Think golden-hour cocktails. Think unapologetic style. Think skyline views and whispered conversations over shimmering glasses. This is about elevating what dining and drinking downtown should feel like: bold, local, and artfully executed.
From The Takeoff to Takeoff Mode

Earlier this summer, the hotel said goodbye to The Takeoff, the previous rooftop bar that made a name for itself with breezy summer nights and skyline selfies. Its final flight on July 5 was a rooftop celebration to remember: signature cocktails, shared appetizers, and a toast to what’s coming next.
Construction is now underway, with hard hats in place and renderings teasing out what’s coming. While the rooftop takes shape, the hotel's ground-level restaurant The Habitat remains open — but not for long. That space, too, is getting a glow-up, transforming into Gilded Feather, a new flagship restaurant concept arriving later this year.
The Peregrine’s team isn’t giving away everything just yet, but the hints are tantalizing: seasonal menus, upscale design, a dash of sparkle, and a major focus on mood. One rooftop, one restaurant, two chances to turn a meal or drink into a moment.
A Hotel With Wings

If you haven’t walked past The Peregrine lately, you’re missing out on one of the city’s most striking public art installations — a six-story peregrine falcon mural by Omaha artist Dave Koenig. It’s not just decoration. It’s declaration. The kind that says, “We’re not just another hotel, and this isn’t just another concept.”
Peregrines are fast, precise, and built to rise. And that’s exactly what The Peregrine is doing with these new openings — rising. Flying higher. Investing in hospitality that doesn’t just feed and serve, but invites you into something you want to remember.
“Every time I need a staycation, I find myself at The Peregrine,” said Omaha Food Magazine editor. “The architecture, the history, the art, it’s all right there. The rooftop has always been a highlight, but the addition of Gilded Feather and The Perch brings something entirely new. This is an exciting moment for The Peregrine and for downtown Omaha.”
What We Know (and What You’ll Want to Know)
- Gilded Feather will occupy the hotel’s main floor, evolving from the current Habitat dining space into something with a lot more heat and heart.
- The Perch Rooftop will soar above the city with bold cocktails, design-forward finishes, and what insiders are calling “sky-high sips and golden-hour sparkle.”
- Both concepts are expected to open later this year, bringing new energy to 18th & Douglas.
Why It Matters
Downtown Omaha is having a moment. From indie coffee shops to nationally recognized dining, it’s no longer the city’s sleepy core. And The Peregrine, nestled inside a building that’s been watching Omaha grow for over a century, seems ready to be part of that transformation.
If you’ve ever needed a reason to explore the city like a tourist — or drink like a local who knows what’s next — The Perch and Gilded Feather may be your invitation.
We’ll be watching. And we’ll be first in line when the doors open.
