Omaha Food Magazine has confirmed that a new bakery, currently referred to as “Groundwork Bakery,” is being planned for 17217 Evans St, Omaha, NE 68130, a retail space that’s been dormant for far too long.
This same retail strip is already seeing life breathed back into it with the highly anticipated opening of Aroma Phở, which is making fast progress in its build-out next door. With the addition of a bakery, the center is finally starting to feel like it’s finding its purpose and its flavor.
A Long-Empty Strip Finally Finds Its Footing
The building’s design is clean and modern, brick accents, glass storefronts, and sharp lines, but it’s sat mostly vacant since being constructed. From the look of it now, things are shifting. The space slated for the bakery, tucked just a few doors down from Aroma Phở, has signage updates underway and signs of early activity.
And while details remain limited, city records indicate that the project is officially listed as GROUNDWORK – BAKERY, with a permit issued to begin preparations for the space. Based on the construction progress we’re seeing at the site, things are finally moving in the right direction.
