Junkstock has officially taken over Sycamore Farms again, and if you are reading this, there is still time to eat your way through one of the most unique events Nebraska offers each fall. The gates opened this morning to a rush of eager pickers and families in flannel. But for those of us who walk straight toward the smoke and sizzle, Junkstock is as much about flavor as it is about vintage finds. The festival runs from October 3rd through fifth and again from October 10th through the 12th. If you have not already planned your visit, consider this your invitation and your food map.

Each year, the food trucks and stands at Junkstock rotate slightly. But the spirit of the food remains the same. Comforting, playful, indulgent, and entirely satisfying. Here are ten foods that stood out this season. Some are messy, some are clever, and all are worth the calories.

From the dedicated meat lover to the veggie-forward eater, the fruit chaser, the sugar seeker, and those just in it for the drinks, there’s something here for everyone.
Brisket with Cornbread from J’s Smokehouse BBQ
This is the kind of brisket that pulls apart with barely a nudge from your fork. It is tender and full of slow-cooked flavor. Smoky, savory, and satisfying. The real win here is the pairing with moist cornbread. It is not overly sweet, but just enough to round out the plate. If you are craving a true festival meat dish, this is it.

Veggie Gyro from Greek to Me

A welcome surprise. The vegetables are well seasoned and cooked just enough to hold their texture without going soggy. The pita is warm and sturdy, which is important because the fillings are generous. Tzatziki sauce adds the creamy punch that ties it all together. It is hearty without being heavy, and perfect for midday when the sun is up.
Bacon Cheeseburger from Fresh Start Farms

There are a lot of cheeseburgers in the world, but few hit the spot like this one did today. The beef is juicy and thick, the bacon is crisp and smoky, and the cheese is melted into every bite. No frills. No gimmicks. Just a solid, flavorful burger. The kind that drips a little and makes you pause because it is just that good.
General Chicken from Twin Happiness

A standout dish that hits all the right notes. Sweet, spicy, and deeply comforting. The chicken is dark meat, juicy and coated in a rich sauce that carries a little heat. It is served with steamed rice and broccoli which soaks up the sauce beautifully. Portions are generous, so consider sharing or settling in for a full meal.
Butterbeer Float from The Sorcerer’s Cone

This one is pure fun. Vanilla ice cream floats in a butterscotch-flavored soda that is sweet, creamy, and lightly fizzy. It tastes like childhood and autumn and whimsy in a cup. Great for cooling off on a warm fall day or as a sweet break between shopping and music.
The Classic Bowl from Jacai Bowls

Bright and refreshing. This bowl includes both acai and tropical blue base topped with granola, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, goji berries, and honey. It is colorful and full of texture. The sweetness is natural and light. A great option if you want something healthier that still feels like a treat.
Master’s Hand: The World’s Best Cinnamon Rolls

We also made a stop at Master’s Hand, where the pink tent and bold signage make one sweet promise — the World’s Best Cinnamon Rolls. And you know what? They might just be right. This Tekamah-based bakery has turned the humble cinnamon roll into an art form. Each one is massive, soft, and swirled with generous ribbons of cinnamon and sugar, then drenched in silky frosting that melts into every warm layer.
“They’re not just cinnamon rolls — they’re a Nebraska legend.”
Master’s Hand has earned national attention for its decadent creations. They were officially named the World’s Best Cinnamon Rolls by WorldsBestCinnamonRolls.com and featured in People magazine as one of America’s best cinnamon rolls this month. Owner Susie Robison has built more than a bakery — she’s created a destination where kindness and craft are baked into every batch.

Robison’s work has been recognized far beyond Nebraska. She was honored by the National Retail Federation as a Retail Champion, celebrating small business owners who uplift their communities and industries. Her story is one of heart, hustle, and hometown pride.

A Full Sensory Foodie Experience
Junkstock is a full sensory experience. The music, the lights, the laughter, and the colors set the scene. But the food makes it personal. Whether you are chasing something familiar or trying something new, the food vendors deliver. And this year, they brought flavor, comfort, and creativity to every corner of the farm.
Make time for a meal or three. Try the unexpected. Follow the smells. And do not leave without something warm in your hands.
