? 1258 S 13th St, Omaha, NE
Noah and Katie Mock, the duo behind some of Omaha’s most beloved nostalgic spots like Fizzy’s and Nite Owl, are bringing their next project to life, and it's one that’s been simmering for a while.
What Is Masa Luna Tamaleria?

Masa Luna is now open in the former Muchachos location at 1258 S. 13th Street, Masa Luna Tamaleria will bring a bold new flavor to Little Bohemia. The tamaleria will feature a tight, curated menu crafted by Chef Carlos Cuevas, known for infusing Mexican staples with unexpected twists — including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-friendly options. And yes, they’re planning to serve agave-forward cocktails that shift with the seasons.
Where It Opened
Little Bohemia is already a vibrant stretch, but this new opening is helping to further cement the neighborhood’s identity as one of Omaha’s most exciting culinary pockets. Masa Luna moved into a building with serious food history, taking over where Muchachos left off — and joining the likes of Fizzy’s just up the street.
Who’s Behind It
Omaha Food Magazine caught up with Noah Mock outside the new space, a little rushed, a lot energized. If you’ve experienced any of his previous concepts, you know the attention to detail is meticulous, the aesthetic intentional, and the food and drink always thoughtful. As Sara Baker Hansen once said, the Mocks are Omaha’s "king and queen of nostalgia" — a title they keep earning.
A Love Story Built on Tamales
The idea for Masa Luna was sparked at the wedding of Chef Carlos Cuevas and his partner, Gillian, where they made over 600 tamales by hand. That labor of love became the seed for something bigger.
Masa Luna will be more than just a tamaleria; it will be the next chapter in the revitalization of 13th Street, a love letter to Mexican food
Now, with support from the Mocks, that idea is becoming a full-scale tamaleria in one of the city's most exciting culinary corridors.
