Ancho & Agave Omaha is finally open! In the vast and ever-evolving culinary landscape of Western Omaha and Elkhorn, Ancho & Agave emerges as a vibrant addition to the scene. While it might not be a cozy, locally-owned gem, our Omaha Food Magazine team decided to pay a visit to see what all the buzz was about.

And trust us, Ancho & Agave has something going on that’s worth talking about.

A Mexican Fiesta on the Table

We dived headfirst into our culinary exploration, starting with STACKED NACHOS EL JEFE – a mountain of Queso Blanco, Black Beans, Cheddar-Jack Cheese, Pico de Gallo, Guacamole, Sour Cream, Black Olives, Scallions, and Jalapeños. You can add Seasoned Ground Beef or Chicken Tinga to kick it up a notch. Talk about nacho heaven!

From the Grill to Your Plate

Our journey continued with the PORK AL PASTOR and Steak fajitas. The former, a flavor-packed delight with Caramelized Onions & Peppers, Guacamole, Sour Cream, Queso, Pico de Gallo, and a choice of Flour or Corn Tortillas or Lettuce Wraps. The latter, sizzling with the irresistible aroma of grilled steak and the promise of delectable fajitas. Each bite was a culinary escapade worth savoring.

A Sweet Ending

As we contemplated dessert, the TRES LECHES CAKE caught our eye. A “Three Milks” Sponge Cake, adorned with Sweet Cream Frosting and Dulce de Leche Sauce, accompanied by Charred Pineapple, Morita Salsa, and Cilantro. It was a delightful finale to our Mexican feast.

Ancho & Agave: More Than Just Tacos

Ancho & Agave wasn’t just another Mexican restaurant; it was a place where flavor took center stage. With house-made signature salsas, hand-smashed guacamoles, and freshly prepared tortilla chips, the flavors were bold and unforgettable. Tacos were the stars of the show, but the menu offered a symphony of options, from classics like burritos, fajitas, quesadillas, and enchiladas, all amped up with mucho flavor.

An Abundance of Refreshments

Ancho & Agave didn’t just quench thirst with cervezas; they had it all, from drafts and bottles to Mexican, Caribbean, and Domestic brews. And if you asked for tequila, you got it, with 30+ choices, including Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo. But the true gems were the signature scratch margaritas and sangrias, best enjoyed together as a Twisted ‘Rita. Non-alcoholic options? Absolutely, with ice-cold Jarritos, Aguas Frescas, or Horchata.

A Warm and Inviting Ambiance

The experience at Ancho & Agave was as casual and inviting as it gets. High ceilings, large windows, garage doors opening to the patio, and a spacious center bar set the stage for a great time. Whether it’s a quick lunch, carry-out for the family, drinks with friends, or Saturday afternoon margaritas, Ancho & Agave had it all.

Bringing a Taste of Bloomington to Village Pointe

Originating from Bloomington, Illinois, Ancho and Agave chose Village Pointe in Omaha as its next destination. Opening in the former Pier 1 Imports location, the restaurant offers traditional Mexican cuisine with a modern twist.
